چکیده

We present two formulations of a model for nding equilibrium passengers and operators ows in a partially regulated transit system where bus operators are free to choose the routes where they o er public transport services. The transit fares are assumed xed and known. The model o ers a detailed representation of the transit system network and of the transit users behavior. Congestion e ects are also considered as a consequence of cars and buses operation over a common road network. Two algorithmic solution approaches are investigated.

Effects of subsidies distribution and market structure change in the duopolistic transit market

By reviewing the existing organizational and operation arrangements of public transit system in China, this paper firstly explored a pricing competition model between profit maximizing operators and consumer surplus maximizing operators on a single route. Under this mixed duopoly market, effects of two widely used polices (fare subsidy and nationalization) on equilibrium fare changes are invest...

Optimization of Number of Operators and Allocation of New Lines in an Oligopolistic Transit Market

This paper proposes a novel model for determining the optimal number of transit operators and the allocation of new lines in an oligopolistic transit market. The proposed model consists of three interrelated sub-models that are associated with three types of players; namely, transit authority, transit operators, and transit passengers. In practice, the operating cost per unit of transit line of...

A Hybrid Cross Entropy Algorithm for Solving Dynamic Transit Network Design Problem

This paper proposes a hybrid multiagent learning algorithm for solving the dynamic simulation-based bilevel network design problem. The objective is to determine the optimal frequency of a multimodal transit network, which minimizes total users’ travel cost and operation cost of transit lines. The problem is formulated as a bilevel programming problem with equilibrium constraints describing non...

Study and Implementation of a Decision Support System

A decision support system (DSS) is developed for urban mass transit service planning, which is designed for several types of users, such as transit operators for service planning, a public agency for regulation of transit services, or transit passengers for route guidance. The DSS provides a flexible mechanism to deal with data. It may include various transit networks and one transit network ha...

A Dynamic Model for Evaluating the Utility of Railway Transit Corridors; a Case study of Bandar Abbas-Sarakhs Corridor

Currently, road transportation is the main mode of freight transit in Iran and about 90% of freight transit is done through this mode of transportation which is not in line with the transportation policies that based on them 70% of the freight transit should be done through road transportation and 30% of the freight transit should be done through rail transportation. However, Iran's railway net...
